Your Data, Privacy & Terms

How Money Engine handles your information, what stays on this device (or your Google Drive if you sync), and the terms that apply when you use these tools.

Money Engine runs entirely in your browser. Your inputs are used only to calculate results on your device. We do not operate user accounts and we do not send your data to our servers.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (for example page views and general usage patterns). Analytics cookies are only loaded if you choose Accept on the cookie notice. Google may set cookies or use similar technologies. See Google’s privacy policy for details.

Local browser storage

To remember your settings between visits, tools may save data on this device in your browser’s local storage, or to your Google Drive if you enable backup:

We do not use local storage for advertising. If you clear site data in your browser, saved settings will be removed and default values will be used on your next visit.

Export or import your data

Download all saved calculator, planner, Financial Profile and Savings Tracker data as one JSON file. The file also includes your theme and reading-comfort settings. Exporting creates a copy and does not delete anything from this browser. To remove all saved data afterwards, use the delete option below.

You can import the file on another device or use it to restore this browser. Importing replaces all existing Money Engine calculator data and display settings on this device. Google Drive connection details, analytics consent and Google credentials are never included.

The export can contain personal financial figures and is not password-protected. Keep it somewhere private and delete it from shared devices when you no longer need it.

Delete saved data on this device

You can reset this browser to a first-time state by removing everything Money Engine stores locally: calculator and planner inputs, your Financial Profile, Savings Tracker snapshots, theme and reading-comfort preferences, the cookie notice choice, and Google Drive sync settings on this device.

We do not keep a copy on our servers. This cannot be undone on this device unless you have backed up to Google Drive and restore after connecting again.

Optional Google Drive backup

You can optionally connect Google Drive to back up and restore your saved tool data across browsers and devices. This is entirely opt-in: nothing is sent to Google unless you choose Connect Google Drive in the top bar and turn on auto-sync.

When enabled, Money Engine uploads a JSON backup of your saved calculator inputs, Financial Profile, Savings Tracker snapshots, theme, and reading-comfort preference to a hidden app-specific folder in your Google account (Google Drive appDataFolder scope). The backup may include financial figures you entered (for example salary, pension balances, or date of birth in the Retirement Planner). Money Engine does not operate user accounts and our servers never receive your backup contents or OAuth tokens.

Google sign-in uses Google Identity Services in your browser. We request only the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata scope — we cannot access your other Drive files. OAuth tokens are stored locally on your device. See Google’s privacy policy for how Google handles sign-in data.

Google Drive sign-in is separate from the analytics cookie notice: it is user-initiated third-party authentication, not covered by the Accept/Reject banner.

To stop syncing, open the cloud icon in the top bar and choose Disconnect, or revoke Money Engine’s access in your Google Account permissions. Disconnecting clears local sync tokens; your on-device tool data remains until you clear browser storage.

Third parties

Google Analytics is loaded from Google’s servers when you accept analytics cookies. Optional Google Drive backup uses Google’s sign-in and Drive APIs when you connect your account. We do not load advertising or social tracking scripts. Calculator and planner inputs are processed locally in your browser and are not sent to our servers unless you choose Google Drive backup.
